The goal is to eliminate until 3 to 6 pictures are left.
Each entry and its caption will be projected for a maximum of 5 seconds, the jury will alternate between negative and positive voting. Jurors may stop the rotation of picture and request for discussion or further examination.
Jurors should declare any conflict of interest before the voting process at this stage.
The round begins with a round of negative voting, meaning the jury will vote to remove an entry from the contest. Negative voting means it requires at least 50% (4 votes) to take an entry out of the contest.
At the end of the second round, 3 to 6 entries per category is needed to remain in the contest.
If after the first negative vote more than six entries are left in contest, the jury will revert to a positive vote on those entries still in contest. If more than six entries remain in the contest after this vote, the jury reverts to negative voting. The jury will alternate between negative and positive voting in this sequence until a maximum of six entries and a minimum of three entries remaining in each category.
If after the first round of negative voting less than three entries are left in the contest, the jury will revert to a round of positive voting. This vote will only include those entries taken out of contest by the previous round of negative voting. If after this round of positive voting more than six stories/singles remain in contest, the jury will follow the same alternating procedure described above starting with a round of negative voting on all entries still in contest until a maximum of six entries and a minimum of three entries remaining in each category.
