Everyone is welcomed to observe the judging process.
The Hong Kong Press Photographers Association (HKPPA) extends their deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of RTHK reporter Mr. Wong Ka-hei, who was discovered this morning (Saturday, March 4, 2017) in the sea off Tseung Kwan O. He was 36.
Mr. Wong has worked at RTHK for over a decade in both radio and television, and recently held the position of multimedia reporter.
Members of the photojournalism community in Hong Kong along with HKPPA are deeply saddened by this news. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all who loved him.
The Hong Kong Press Photographers Association (HKPPA) condemns the violent actions targeting photojournalists during the news coverage of a bestiality case earlier today (Friday, Feb. 10, 2017).
An accused man involved in a bestiality case verbally insulted members of the media outside West Kowloon Law Courts after he was released on bail this afternoon. Later, the man punched and injured an Apple Daily photojournalist who was treated and later sent to the hospital.
HKPPA extends our sympathy to our fellow colleague and wish for his speedy recovery.
HKPPA condemns this type of behavior as we do not believe it’s acceptable to target any members of the media through violence. We urge the police to investigate the case impartially and thoroughly. We also ask our fellow colleagues to pay close attention to the situation and emotions of protesters when covering similar events in the future, carry appropriate equipment and seek help or support from appropriate authorities.
